MEDICAL SCRIBING
Medical scribes are people who record all contacts between doctors and patients during the course of treatment. One of the duties of this position is to enter all patient written records into a database so that the attending physician can concentrate on providing care. The scribe completes all the paperwork concurrently.
Additionally, if a patient needs to have medical procedures like X-rays, CT scans, blood tests, or urine tests, a scribe works for the doctor to communicate with the other departments. For the clinic or hospital to operate at peak efficiency, a scribe must keep an eye on these.
Basic skills required by a medical scribe includes :-
- Medical scribes must be able to multitask while writing down the information gathered from the patient and paying close attention during therapy. In this line of work, the capacity for multitasking is crucial.
- Computer literacy: Because all the data must be encoded and written down in a computer, having a foundational understanding of computers is essential. A scribe must be able to use Microsoft Office programmes.
- Typing abilities: Coding the patient information is just as important as learning how to use a computer. Typing at a rate of 45 to 60 words per minute is strongly advised.
- Knowledge of any software for electronic medical records or electronic health records is necessary because it will be utilised by the physicians to keep a patient's records.
